The Global Wealth Engineering (GWE) teamis continuously modernizing and enhancing application and data platforms for Scotia Wealth Management. Our group consists of several agile teams working closely together to deliver support and maintain the platforms that service multiple domains such as client advisor and asset management experiences.

The team is searching for a passionate Solutions Engineer who is motivated to design and develop components of enterprise applications and providing consultative guidance across all assignments and experiences. You will work as part of a team to ensure that the business and technical architecture of the delivered solution matches business requirements. You will be asked to take technical lead on various aspects of design development and mentoring of resources while working with architects developers key business stakeholders various technical support teams across the Bank regulatory and compliance groups and senior leadership.

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Design and deliver scalable performant and cost-effective full-stack solutions for internal and external applications.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards design guidelines and best practices across engineering teams.
  • Drive microservices-based architectures Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers and service-oriented solutions integrating with RESTful APIs and event streaming platforms.
  • Manage cross-squad engineering resourcing based on available skill sets and product / technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (front-end back-end cloud security DevOps) for seamless integration and delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews code reviews and architecture discussions.
  • Support key DevSecOps practices CI/CD pipeline development automated testing and deployment strategies for multi-cloud environments.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to security-first principles (encryption identity management secure API design).
  • Act as a senior resource for troubleshooting performance tuning and production support.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of wealth management and asset management business strategies and applications.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role Wed love to work with you if you have:

  • Education: Bachelors in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 12 years in full-stack development with strong coding and architecture focus.
    • 2 years in technical leadership (guiding teams enforcing standards).
  • Technical Proficiency in:
  • Front-End: Redux JavaScript (ES6) TypeScript.
  • Back-End: Java (8) Spring Boot RESTful APIs.
  • Architecture: Microservices BFF patterns event streaming (Kafka Google Pub/Sub).
  • Cloud Platforms:
    • Google Cloud (Cloud Run Functions BigQuery GKE).
    • Microsoft Azure (App Services Key Vault AKS).
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Jenkins GitHub Actions Bitbucket Terraform Docker Kubernetes.
  • Security: SSL/TLS OAuth2 JWT vulnerability scanning tools (Fortify BlackDuck).
  • Monitoring: Splunk Dynatrace.
  • Databases: SQL (PostgreSQL Azure SQL) NoSQL (MongoDB).
  • Strong Agile methodology experience and modern SDLC practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving debugging and performance optimization skills.
  • Able to lead multiple engineering teams through a common vision to deliver quality code across all products
  • Strong understanding of cloud cost models and project / transit budgeting
