As a Geomatics Engineering Survey Assistant you will contribute to the Geomatics Land Surveying Team by joining the field survey group and performing municipal road construction industrial and environmental surveys on projects mainly based in the Calgary region with other project opportunities in Alberta British Columbia and Saskatchewan. At CIMA our standard equipment is Trimble TSC5 R12i SX-12 and Dini. For scanners we use Trimble Riegl Faro NavVis and Leica. We have DJI drones as well. You may have to travel between provinces and work in all types of weather conditions averaging 40 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist a Party Chief in the completion of subdivision road industrial plant site and construction surveys
- Ensure professional and respectful client interaction
- Assist with the set-up and operation of conventional survey equipment GPS drone terrestrial LiDAR and buried utility locating equipment
- Data collection and field note preparation
- Prepare field materials and maintain survey equipment tools & vehicles
- Participate in the interpretation of engineering drawings specifications legal survey plans and maps with respect to survey assignment
Qualifications :
- Recent graduate or a senior student currently enrolled in a Geomatics Engineering Technology or Bachelors of Geomatics Engineering degree
- Field experience in surveying is an asset
- Experience with AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Trained in interpreting engineering drawings and applicable specifications
- Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations of Alberta
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software applications
- Effective written and oral communication skills
The starting salary for this position ranges from $24.15 to $33 per hour depending on your academic profile and your previous co-op or internship experience or previous related work experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile.
