British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for M&A Finance Senior Manager in London

The roles purpose is to bring technical and project management expertise to the M&A process within BAT Group. Provide advice and effective input into the planning negotiation and execution of acquisitions disposals joint ventures and other M&A transactions for BAT Group.

  • On large transactions provide analytical and technical support as well as manage discrete workstreams (e.g. Due Diligence).
  • On small-mid size transactions run the entire transaction process including team member management external advisers and internal governance (alongside M&A legal).

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the evolution of the BAT Group M&A strategy knowledge and expertise screening potential acquisition targets and prioritizing future BAT Group opportunities.
  • Being a member of a project team on larger and more sophisticated transactions providing finance and commercial support using specialist skills including understanding and application of valuation and risk management techniques.
  • Leading small-mid size lower complexity transactions and critical initiatives handling a full transaction team and dealing with partner engagement internally and externally and assisting the negotiation of the terms of any transaction.
  • Evaluating the value of a target business not only to BAT but to other potentially interested parties and leading the due diligence process including the engagement and management of external advisors.
  • Working with other project team members and external advisors to identify financial and business risks. Develop solutions to mitigate these risks and methods of evaluating any residual risks.
  • Developing informed solutions to structural and other project issues; ensuring that the strategic and financial value of any project is identified and delivered.
  • Preparing recommendations and presenting to senior management and ensuring that those parts of M&A projects for which you have specific responsibility are delivered within the limits set by the Standing Committee or Main Board.

What are we looking for:

  • Degree or equivalent experience educated with relevant professional qualification (e.g. CA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA / CFA/ MBA).
  • A detailed understanding of valuation techniques and the nuances of discounted cash flow analysis with experience of building and reviewing comprehensive financial models.
  • Experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment with 8 years of M&A transaction experience and/or substantial day-to-day financial and commercial experience from working in other parts of large corporates.
  • Sound knowledge of end-to-end M&A transaction process and related transaction documents and the ability to lead small-mid size M&A transactions with limited supervision!
  • Personal credibility confidence and adaptability to influence and challenge internal management and external advisers with excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Teammate embracing collaboration and inclusivity with strong project management and organizational skills to deliver and work optimally with others.
