Position Summary The Director of Pharmacy is a highly visible and critical leader within the senior leadership team. The director will not only focus on operational effectiveness but will also be responsible for the financial management and budgetary oversight of the Pharmacy unit. The Director of Pharmacy will be responsible for all drug storage and drug preparation in the hospital. The Director for Pharmacy will ensure that the pharmacy provides optimal services meets all federal state and local accreditation and certification requirements and complies with all applicable policies procedures codes and standards of Titus Regional Medical Center.
Essential Functions -Meets job description of Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician. -Has plenty of experience and knowledge of The Joint Commission. -Has the ability of meeting all requirements set forth by the Senior Leadership Team and Board Directors of Titus Regional MedicalCenter. -Encourages professionalism productivity performance and efficiency of all pharmacy staff. -Strives to enhance patient care and satisfaction. -Maintains a consistent schedule of communication with nurses and physicians. -Ensures timely evaluations of pharmacy staff members including performing annual reviews for direct reports. -Confirms correct and timely payroll approval by direct reports. -Delegates assignments and committee appointments for pharmacy staff. -Develops policies procedures and protocols for pharmacy staff. -Ensures proper handling of incident and/or accident reports. -Provides supervision and coaching for pharmacy staff. -Creates short- and long- term pharmacy strategic goals for pharmacy development. -Develops annual budget for operations and capital. -Participates in hiring process for pharmacy positions. -Coordinates pharmacy staff training (Initial orientation and ongoing pharmacy team member development). -Facilitates corrective and disciplinary actions of pharmacy staff. -Initiates and implements quality improvement projects in the pharmacy department. -Develops and maintains a medical staff-approved formulary -Supervises medication storage and preparation areas throughout the facility; establishes specifications for the safe and secure storage of medications chemicals and biologicals -Facilitates the implementation and maintenance of safe medication-use processes throughout the organization -Ensures maintenance of an adequate medication supply and integrity of the medication supply; establishes specifications for the procurement of medications chemicals and biologicals -Ensures adequate control and documentation of controlled substances -Creates maintains updates and enforces lean pharmacy standards in the pharmacy workflow. -Oversees records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure adequate control over and accountability for all drugs as required by applicable state local and federal laws. -Responds to or delegates clinical questions regarding patient care or formulary decisions. -Participates in all committees/functions required by the organization including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee -Attends management meetings and senior leadership meetings. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Handles protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with HIPAA. -Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint. -Superior interpersonal skills. -Detail-oriented. -Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled. -Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure. -Maintains current pharmacist licensure -Sustains professional competence and promotes development through participation in in-services workshops seminars and professional organizations -Performs staff pharmacist duties when needed -Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience -Six years of experience as a staff or clinical pharmacist with the state of Texas preferred. -One to three years of experience in a managerial position preferred. -Experience collaborating with and providing education to diverse health care team members preferred.
Education -Registered Pharmacist in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy required. -Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science degree required.
