Serves as the Prison Enterprises Farm Manager for agricultural operations atDixon Correctional Institute(DCI).
This position offers a mix of hands-on experience and strategic oversight with contribution to a vital industry.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years of farming experience that involved the use of mechanized equipment; or experience in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security custody rehabilitation or classification of offenders engaged in farming activities.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience for a maximum of four years.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Supervises and oversees agricultural operations through subordinate supervisors to insure all operate productively and profitably. Confers with the appropriate Wardens or institutional representatives regarding inmate assignments transfers and security. Additionally confers and informs the PE Regional Manager & PE Agriculture Manager on reports preventative maintenance programs new products new processes and expansions of existing agriculture operations.
- Prison Enterprises is an ancillary Enterprise Fund operating entirely on a self-generated revenue with a staff of approximately 68 operating over 30 individual cost centers at 7 correctional facilities across this State along with a Headquarters location in Baton Rouge. Prison Enterprises has approximately 2027 in livestock assets spread across 5 agriculture operations.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: PROBATION or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment should a permanent position become available the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career andNOTthe amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.Location: This position will be domiciled at Dixon Correctional Institute in Baton Rouge LA .
