The Division of Administration/Office of Aircraft Services has a vacancy.


The Office of Aircraft Services is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft owned by state agencies within the executive branch of government.


The Division of Administration is the state governments management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following:

  • Overseeing the states capital construction program
  • Working to provide state and federal grants for community development
  • Development of the state budget
  • Providing technology services
  • Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services
  • Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:


  • Perform scheduled & unscheduled maintenance on all state own aircraft (PC-12NG C90 500S KUH-1 C182 C172)
    1. Daily/GVI/Preflight/Postflight
    2. Interpret pilot reports to add & diagnose discrepancies
    3. Perform initial checks/IBIT/inspection to further identify unscheduled mx discrepancies
    4. Install test adjust & repair equipment and systems in aircraft
  • Read & accurately interpret aircraft/engine manufacturer maintenance/overhaul/parts manuals
  • Verify the applicability of various part numbers to the aircraft that it is being installed on
    1. Verify that the part number matches the intended replacement or alternate part number
  • Apply the differences between approved & acceptable data
  • Thoroughly understand FAR Part 1.1 (the definitions section)
    1. Major repair & major alteration
    2. Public aircraft
  • Understand the definition & applicability of the National Airspace (NAS)
  • Verify the applicability of aircraft models affected for AD ASB TB SB/MTB
  • Determine aircraft status in reference to maintenance required (AOG SWAK in house mx vendor mx etc.)
  • Update maintenance calendar based on changing conditions of aircraft status
  • Track & plan scheduled maintenance in coordination with operations (chief/maintenance pilot) of each state agency
  • Coordinate with appropriate vendors & mechanics on outside maintenance & repair on parts aircraft and engine work
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) for maintenance performed (in house & through vendors) IAW maintenance manuals & standard practices manual
  • Generate accurate maintenance records IAW 49 USC 40125 relevant sections of FAR Part 91 AC 91-91 & AC 00-1.1B
    1. Maintain aircraft IAW Public Aircraft Operations (PAO)
  • Maintain detailed repair and certification records and reports of work performed
    1. Generate aircraft return to service documentation to ensure airworthiness of aircraft once they exit maintenance
  • Ensure preflight decision flow chart compliance IAW AC 00-1.1B
  • Tag removed aircraft parts appropriately & ensure proper storage (for stock or core return)
  • Ship parts with State of Louisiana letterhead to appropriate destinations for repair or overhaul
  • Utilize AFCS/ENG/Avionics maintenance computers & calibrated tools
  • Safely operate hangar ground support equipment
    1. External power cart hydraulic cart scissor lift forklift jack stands tail stands & mx stands
