Our Senior Transportation Managers play a crucial role in exceeding expectations and providing a superb customer experience; critical to Amazons success which is built on a foundation of customer obsession and innovation. This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution. The Senior Transportation Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operations of the TOM teams within a specific node and may include responsibilities for stand-alone sites as well. You will lead a dynamic team of Operations and Area Managers to achieve operational excellence through coaching and mentoring the team; driving employee engagement and building leadership bench strength within the TOM organization.
Multiple roles are expected across the network with flexibility for location based on candidates current location and relocation preferences.
Strategic Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Owns and delivers the operational budget for functional area including safety productivity financial and labor planning and operational goals for TOM
Responsible for providing strategic level/long-term planning (3 6 and 12 months out) including labor planning forecasting and peak season planning
Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity to meet and exceed business objectives; works on strategic projects that have total building and network-wide impact. Effectively leverages the Operations and Area Managers to solicit ideas and understand problems and challenges in the building.
Networks with other leaders across the network to solicit and share process improvements and drive efficiencies and cost savings.
Establishes objectives and metrics for safety quality productivity and customer experience
Sets clear goals and expectations for Operations and Area Managers. Measures performance provides feedback and holds leaders accountable
Mentors and develops leaders and staff
Participates in recruiting to identify and evaluate associates and internal/external candidates for promotion and hire.
Works closely with support staff (HR Finance Safety IT and other leaders) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives
- Bachelors degree in engineering commerce business administration or equivalent or 2 years of Amazon experience
- 7 years of direct leadership/supervisory experience
- 3 years of performance metrics process improvement or lean techniques experience
- Experience with staffing lifecycle including interviewing hiring performance management and terminations
- Work flexible schedules including weekends nights and holidays
- Bachelors degree or above in Operations Business Project Management or Engineering
- 5 years of direct management experience
- Experience working in fast paced environments and managing workload even during times of stress or escalated activity
- Experience in multiple organizational functions such as compensation forecasting or organizational development
- Experience in the areas of management and leadership development organization development learning and development group facilitation training and training design or equivalent business experience
- Experience leading large teams/operations including a salaried/hourly workforce in a rapidly changing customer service manufacturing production or distribution environment
- Experience with leadership and mentorship of personnel within large organizations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
