| Job Summary: |
Supporting Board attorneys and staff related to Nursing Board cases for settlements investigations and hearings in the administrative courts.

| Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions: |
Interaction with Board staff Nurses Applicants Opposing Counsel and Assistant Attorney Generals: Providing updates on communications obtaining evidence updating Board staff and assisting with inquiries
Investigation & Document/Subpoena Support: Assisting in obtaining information and evidence (including subpoenas); tracking and following up on responses
Administrative: Manage internal calendars meetings and agendas; respond to external emails/calls; coordination of third-party vendors/contractors
Filing and Submissions: Preparing and submitting legal documents to the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) or administrative agencies
Case Management: Organizing and managing case files maintaining documentation gathering evidence and preparing correspondence
Document Preparation: Prepare legal documents such as complaints motions consent agreements orders and correspondence
Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring that the Board of Nursing practices adhere to state and federal laws
Other duties as assigned related to the position

Knowledge:
The functions and jurisdictions of local State and Federal courts and related agencies legal termination and procedures
The methods and techniques for writing reports and other documents in established formats
Knowledge of the concepts terminology principles and procedures of Administrative law
The use of statutes codes and other legal resources
Skills:
Proficiency in legal software case management systems Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

| Education & Experience: |
Required:
Educational level at a minimum of an Associate degree or minimum of 5 years of legal assistant or legal secretary experience is required
Preferred:
An Associate degree in paralegal studies or a Bachelors degree in a major related to law
| Pre-Employment Requirements: |
Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R.12.)
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current valid state-issued drivers license appropriate to the assignment
