About the Role

The Patient at Risk (PaR) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides specialist nursing care and expertise both in direct care delivery and in support to other staff in the management of a defined patient/consumer group/area of speciality practice.

This role will:

  • Work across the Southland site acting in the roles of educator consultant researcher practice leader/change agent and care coordinator in the pursuit of clinical excellence and improved health outcomes.
  • Provide a 24/7 service across the organisation on our Southland site
  • Be responsible for the clinical and professional leadership support while acting as an organisational resource to enhance clinical support for patients with or potential for physiological instability.
  • Work autonomously and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to assess treat and manage patient/consumer health care needs.
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership promoting clinical excellence and ensuring best practice standards are met and maintained.

About you

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse
  • Hold a current Nursing Council of New Zealand annual practising certificate
  • Be working towards relevant Post graduate qualifications at a minimum of a Diploma or/and a masters degree
  • Have advanced learning and contemporary knowledge in either HDU ED or ICU nursing.
  • Hold a current Core Advanced certification or equivalent.
  • Hold Expert or Designated Senior Nurse PDRP or Proficient and working towards Expert level.
