The starting salary is based upon the previous number of years of teaching experience.Any part-time part-time position (less than 1.0 FTE) will be proratedto the appropriate FTE.
General Summary:
The Resource Room Teacher is responsible for planning instruction and/or adaption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences. The Resource Room Teacher reports to the building principal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Builds trust and confidence with students.
- Plans curriculum lessons and special education programs and teaching methods.
- Maintains the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes.
- Encourages good citizenship.
- Instructs individuals and groups on Special Education skill areas.
- Monitors student progress in and outside the resource room.
- Modifies curriculum as needed.
- Maintains contact with parents of students.
- Evaluates student progress based on work output and observations determines goals objectives and directions.
- Prepares report cards education records IEPC forms classroom observation records and other forms.
- Participates in weekly building Special Education Committee meetings.
- Administers testing evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Elementary or Secondary Special Education required or alternative route to teaching certification program required.
- Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with a Special Education (SA-SX) endorsement area. Additional endorsement areas preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate success in area of application.
