Job Summary
The Contract Manager is responsible for the overall management of the companys contracts from negotiation to execution and closure. They ensure the legal contractual and financial security of projects particularly in the construction (BTP) and large-scale project sectors working with public and private clients international partners subcontractors and multinational companies. The role is key in negotiating complex contracts managing contractual financial and tax risks monitoring project contracts and protecting the companys interests.
Job Responsibilities
- Contract Negotiation & Structuring
- Lead negotiations for complex construction contracts (public and private projects EPC subcontracting joint ventures international contracts).
- Participate in negotiations with major clients financiers multinationals and technical partners.
- Analyze and secure critical contract clauses (responsibilities penalties timelines guarantees insurance force majeure termination price variations claims).
- Engage early in tender and pre-contract phases to secure commitments.
Contract Management & Monitoring
- Oversee contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement tools to track contractual obligations (deliverables deadlines penalties guarantees).
- Identify anticipate and manage contractual risks.
- Manage amendments contract changes and scope extensions.
Claims Disputes & Pre-Litigation Management
- Identify situations leading to claims (delays changes additional costs).
- Prepare and manage contractual claims files.
- Handle pre-litigation and litigation situations with external legal advisors.
- Defend the companys interests in full compliance with contracts and standards.
Internal Coordination & Project Support
- Collaborate with project teams operations finance legal procurement and subcontracting teams.
- Train and raise awareness among operational teams on contractual matters.
- Provide contractual support to project managers on-site.
Legal & Tax Aspects (Strong Advantage)
- Understand legal financial and tax impacts of contracts.
- Analyze tax clauses (VAT withholding exemptions local/international taxation).
- Contribute to structuring contracts with complex financial or tax aspects.
Process Structuring & Improvement
- Develop and improve internal contract management processes.
- Standardize contract templates (clients subcontractors partners).
- Elevate company contract standards toward international best practices.
Requirements
- Education: Masters degree or equivalent in Law Business Law Construction Law or related field. Dual legal/contractual expertise is highly valued.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in contract management with significant experience in construction large projects or infrastructure. Proven record of negotiating and managing major contracts with multinationals or large groups. Experience in structured construction companies and handling financial and tax aspects is a strong advantage.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of construction contract law.
- Strong experience in negotiating complex international contracts.
- Ability to analyze high-stakes contracts.
- Proficiency in claims management and dispute resolution.
- Understanding of organized and certified environments (processes compliance).
