POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for driving the patient shuttle vans and transporting area patients ofMercyOneClinton /MercyOneGenesis to/from facilities throughoutMercyOneEastern Iowa Region. Operates a secure and accessible van equipped to provide safe non-emergency transportofindividuals needing transportation to and from appointments and/or for discharge from medical center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined inMercyOneMedical Center s Care Model and Trinity Healths Code of Conduct fostering a climate where all customers are treated in a manner consistent withMercyOneMedical Centers Mission and Values.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable FederalStateand local laws and regulations Trinity Healths Organizational Integrity Program Standards of Conduct as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honestethicaland professional behavior.
Delivers direct patient care byproviding assistancerequired to safely board the vehicles. Ensure patients wheelchairs assistivedevicesand patient belongings are secured before starting the van. Depending on route destination and patient safetymaytransport more than one patient at a time.
Supervises patients during transport perform CPR ifduring transport and alert emergency services by calling 911 in emergent situations.
Upon arrival at the facilityassistpatients exiting the vehicleescortingthem to the hand-off locationgivingverbalreportsto accepting staffmemberschecksthe vehicle for personal items andcompletestriplog.
Driveris responsible forimmediatelyreporting traffic accidents by calling 911 requesting police or ambulance services asneededand reports toDirectorwhen safe. Responsible for safety checksmaintenanceand service of patient shuttle vehicles.
Performs other duties consistent withpurposeofjobas directed.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knows and adheres to all laws and regulationspertaining topatient healthsafetyand medical information (i.e.HIPAA Stark etc.)
Must be a safe driver with acceptable driving record and valid andappropriate USdrivers license for the shuttle vehicles (CDL/Chauffers License).
Mustexhibitindependent thinking in performing job functions.
Must have above average recall abilitiesin order toperform technical job functions.
Mustpossessthe ability toeffectively and courteously communicate with customers and members of the pharmacymedicaland hospital staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age
Certified Nurse Aide verification of certification from the State of Iowa. (Preferred)
Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire
Valid US Drivers License (preferably CDL - although not required)
Must be able to demonstrate a good driving record verifiable with the DMV in the applicants state of residence.
Experience in driving large vehicle over 20000 pounds.
Basic knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance.
Security background preferred previous experience in private security public law enforcement or military duty extremely helpful but not essential.
