The Child and Youth Care Program Bachelor of Child Studies Degree at Mount Royal University invites applications for a Tenure Track position which will ideally commenceJuly 1 position will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The Bachelor of Child Studies maintains a progressive approach to studies that focus on children and youth and emphasizes experiential learning child and youth care and early learning. The degree provides a theoretical foundation and valuable hands-on learning opportunities in and outside of the classroom. Going beyond traditional program offerings the BCST focuses on creating experienced well-rounded graduates who are prepared to become strong advocates for children youth and families or to pursue further education at a graduate school level.
The Bachelor of Child Studies is made up of two programs Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) and Child and Youth Care Counsellor (CYCC). Both programs emphasize collaboration and community leadership equipping students with a combination of theory and practical skills to make a difference in the lives of children and youth. We are currently looking to hire someone to teach in the Child and Youth Care (CYCC) Program with a specific focus on CYCC counselling skills assessment and intervention and foundational CYCC practice. The successful applicant will have: a Masters degree in Child and Youth Care or related discipline (PhD preferred) a Child and Youth Care credential and practice experience in the Child and Youth Care field. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is considered an asset.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching / scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a scholarship program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) focuses on teaching and service only. Applicants interested in the teaching / scholarship / service pattern should have the ability and intent to pursue a scholarship program.
