Classification Minimum Requirements:

Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of relevant experience.

Job Description:

Provide advising support for designated Student Government entities including but not limited to:

a. Advise the Student Body Vice President in carrying out duties and overseeing the Student Government Cabinet tasked with planning events and initiatives to enhance the student experience.
b. Advise the Executive Secretaries who serve as support liaisons to the Student Body President assisting with executive initiatives and responsibilities.
c. Advise certain agencies within the Executive Branch of Student Government some of which may include: The Big Event Chomp the Vote Gators Going Green Gator Innovators Nightlife Navigators Young Leaders Conference etc.
d. Advise the Elections Commission in reviewing election violations and confirming the election results.
e. Assist student leaders in event programming include but not limited to idea development budgeting planning advertising and promotion program participants and completed trainings.
f. Coordinate with student leaders for the development implementation and assessment of a comprehensive training program for Student Government students. Training activities may include workshops individual consultations and peer education.
g. Assist the Associate Director in the advisement of Student Senate and other Student Government entities as necessary.
h. Advise the SG Executive team on the planning of events and university processes including the SG Banquet State of the Campus Address Gator Giving Day and all event permitting for SG events.
i. Serve as a resource to student leaders and student volunteers.

Serve as the administrative lead and provide oversight for Student Government Bike Repair

a. Manage the operational budget and financial transactions for the SG Bike Repair Shop which serves more than 1000 students annually.
b. Ensure proper maintenance safety compliance and functionality of the Bike Repair Shop and satellite repair stations.
c. Implement efficient processes for inventory control and resource allocation.
d. Assistant the Program Coordinator and Graduate Assistant in the supervision of Student Government services including Print Lab and Bike Repair.

Support the administrative functions within Student Government

a. Supervise the Program Coordinator within Student Government Advising & Operations.
b. Supervise the Graduate Assistant for SG Advising & Operations.
c. Meet regularly with supervisor to set goals each semester monitor progress toward the goals and conduct formal evaluations of work performed.
d. Serve as backup for posting and tracking the various open student leader positions within SG on the SG website.

Contributes to the Division and University through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: emergency dean on call conduct committee student welcome events etc); and other duties as assigned.

This position will report to the Associate Director of Campus Engagement. General direction will be rendered through established goals and expectations on-going input and feedback via regular communication with employee on a daily basis and regular performance reviews.

Directly supervises the following positions:
Program Coordinator Student Government Advising & Operations
Graduate Assistant Student Government Advising & Operations
Student Assistant(s): Bike Repair Students

Indirectly supervises:
Student Government Print Lab

40 hours per week with additional time required during peak periods such at the beginning and end of each semester. Frequent night and weekend hours are required including Senate meetings on Tuesday nights at 7 or 7:30pm.

Expected Salary:

$58000-$60000 Annual Salary

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

A Masters Degree in Higher Education College Student Personnel or comparable field and two or more years or relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience in advising students and working with event planning and student organizations at the college or university level
Demonstrated planning organization and communication skills (verbal and written).
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with computers and basic software applications.
Demonstrated a commitment to creating a welcoming environment through strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience working with Student Government.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in budget development.
