Job Summary
Target start date: January 15 2026
Contract length: 1 year with potential for extension
Location: Lloydminster SK
T4 rates between $36.00 to $40.00 an hour.
IC rates between $42.00 to $47.00 an hour.
Schedule: 8 days on 6 days off. 10 hours days.
If T4 OT may be required however would need pre-approval in advance of any time worked.
Truck allowance of $1600 monthly billed as $738.46 bi-weekly to align to timesheet submission process.
$0.50 per KM on top of Truck allowance
Cenovus is currently looking for an experienced Contract Operator to join their Western Canada Operations to fill the Gas Management Role with the New Drill Team. Reporting to the Supervisor this position is accountable for day-to-day support of gas management for Alberta and Saskatchewan and supporting the New Drill team and ensures it is run in a safe efficient manner while maintaining the necessary production requirements.
Core Responsibilities
Fuel Flare Vent (FFV) sustainment communication training supporting Operations on data entry into intricate solutions Auditing of FFV entries attend FFV monthly meetings.
Troubleshooting of gas systems to debottleneck projects participate in pipeline walk downs (infield confirmation of surface equipment scope line pack issues confirm gas system flow and metering gas mapping gas sales line balancing gas sampling data gathering engage in pipeline integrity reviews gas line pigging and procedures.
Assist Operations to Operate in a safe and effective manner while working collaboratively as part of the operating team.
Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines.
Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g. volume balances log sheets work permits and required reports)
Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the sites operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Cenovus requirements policies and procedures while leading by example.
Provide assistance coaching on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required.
Participate in the development and review of Safe Operating Procedures. Follow safe operating and chemical handling procedures and ensure environmental impact is minimized.
Participate in the site Health and Safety Program. Report all near misses and incidents. Participate in incident investigations as required.
Experience
Asset:
o 1 5 yrs experience in operation of oil processing equipment and all associated processes and systems.
o 1 5 yrs experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance.
o 1 5 yrs experience in safe work permitting and hazard analysis.
o 1 2 yrs experience in control room setting
o Experience in oil and gas industry pulp and paper or plant process experience
o Proficiency with computerized operating systems such as PLC DCS or SCADA
o Experience using Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook SAP Salesforce and PVR (Production volume reporting)
o Basic understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures
Education Professional Designations Certifications
High School diploma or equivalent
4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is an asset.
A valid clean Class 5 Drivers license is required. For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 drivers license a satisfactory driving record and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A Drivers abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the Pre-employment Screening for the final candidate.
Asset:
o Gas Process Operations (GPO) / Production Field Operations (PFO) levels A-D / I-IV
o Oil & Gas Process Operations (OGPO) levels 100-400
o Petroleum Technologist diploma or technical diploma from a recognized technical college
o Journeyman trades certification is an asset.

Working Conditions:
There will be some physical demands (i.e. sitting standing lifting climbing bending kneeling etc.
Role requires occasional use of power and pneumatic tools shop tools and frequent use of manual tools
Working in various conditions/exposures such as noise heights confined spaces cold/heat uneven surfaces days/nights chemicals toxic gases rotating equipment etc.
Work schedule up to 40hrs a week minimum 5 & 2 while training then move to 8 & 6 schedule.
