Job Summary

May require travel throughout State of Ohio & may require overnight stay. (Must be willing & able to secure a valid drivers license OR supply your own transportation).

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check as well as other investigative convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position unless restricted under state or federal law or federal individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

The final applicant for this position will be required to submit urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.

6 years experience in the following areas:

  • Teaching and/or administrative experience in special education instruction and procedures as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Implementing school improvement processes (e.g. analyzing data project management improvement planning progress monitoring).

Serves as an unclassified employee pursuant to Section 3301.13 R.C. and performs the following duties:

Plans coordinates and conducts Local Educational Agency (LEA) monitoring activities both on and off site with service providers for implementation of 34 CFR Part 300.600:

  • Conducts on-site comprehensive monitoring evaluation & investigation of Ohio school districts community schools and other educational agencies
  • Utilizes appropriate monitoring techniques and procedures (e.g. targeted review focused on an identified priority);
  • Collects data (through questionnaires & data collection tools) in order to facilitate plans for improving results for students
  • Conducts on-site activities & monitors through the use of questionnaires & the collection of district specific information to Determine compliance with federal & state laws applicable and standards applicable to the education of children with disabilities (e.g. Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Ohios Comprehensive Monitoring Review Protocol Operating Standards for Ohios Schools Serving Children with Disabilities)
  • Plans coordinates and performs on-site and desk monitoring reviews; completes data analysis for policy development problem identification and evaluation of district progress
  • Assures development of action plans; assures fulfillment of action plans
  • Verifies compliance with federal and state requirements
  • Meets with statewide stakeholders and groups to gather and process information
  • Interprets data on a national statewide and district to district basis
  • Perform trend analysis using data to validate state efforts and to inform decisions relating to policy development problem identification individual district progress and comparative studies relating national state and local data; respond to legislative and administrative requests for data-basedinformation.

Gathers and analyzes data to identify school improvement supports; gathers appropriate state national and local data:

  • Analyzes and interprets data to measure impact of supports on student performance; prepares federal state and local reports
  • Meet with statewide stakeholders and groups to gather and process information; collaborate with internal offices to align and integrate the work of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Designs participates and presents professional development and technical assistance in order to build capacity in the state to deliver differentiated instruction and assessment aligned with state standards:

  • Completes action plans
  • Develops professional relationships with all sections of the Office of Exceptional Children (OEC)
  • Conducts research relative to improving progress for all students.

Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g. develops & disseminates support tools and products that provide opportunities for exceptional children and other at-risk learners to make progress in the general education curriculum):

  • Develops protocols for monitoring; develops tools that support improvement activities).
