Job Duties
The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) provides you the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge of the day-to-day operations of the Virginia judicial process. You must be committed to providing excellent customer service and enjoy working in a fast-paced medium volume office with deadlines in a results-oriented team-work environment.

The Deputy Clerk will perform a wide range of clerical duties in processing court cases. Specific duties may include but are not limited to preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines automated case management system data entry scanning documents scheduling matters for court process and file correspondence and court forms daily docket preparation and provide in-court support on a rotation with other deputy clerks. Additional responsibilities include answering phones assisting customers at the counter accessing fines and costs receipting financial transactions and conduct cash reconciliation. Must be able to multi-task meet strict deadlines and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Most competitive applicants will have considerable court business or office related experience. Applicants must be well organized detailed oriented highly accurate and have good verbal and written communication skills. Experience in handling money is a must. Able to type at least 50 WPM. Provide excellent customer service with responding and effectively interacting with the public and external organizations or agencies with tact courtesy and patience. Promote positive work environment and able to follow and explain procedures in a clear and easy to understand manner. Possess the ability to manage competing priorities. Advance knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required. Discretion and integrity are a must in working with highly sensitive and confidential matters.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: lifting bending to retrieve files going up and down stairs.
