Canada Chief Compliance Officer

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer Americas Region the Canada Chief Compliance Officer (CCCO) will ensure AIG Canadas compliance with internal policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. The CCCO will work with multiple business lines within AIG Canada.

Responsibilities

Provide Quarterly reporting to the AIG Canada Board of Directors

Oversee the Regulatory Compliance Management framework which includes coordinating periodic reviews assessments and testing of the compliance controls throughout the company.

Serve as the Complaints Officer in review of escalated customer complaints

Provide support on Privacy issues

Oversee annual Market Conduct Audits and annual SABs/UDAP audit

Participate in the annual Compliance Risk Assessment Process

Manage B-10 annual reviews with Business/Function leaders

Manage Cancelled E&O notifications to Provincial Regulators

Respond to employee inquiries regarding compliance policies standards and guidelines in areas including conflicts of interest economic sanctions anticorruption records management and the AIG Code of Conduct

Prepare and deliver training on various compliance topics

Assist with providing responses to regulatory inquiries and audits

Assist with Compliance Monitoring and Testing Reviews

Interpreting implementing and administering Compliance Policies Procedures and practices to ensure proper risk mitigation for the business

Consults on new products and services to assist with incorporating compliance requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree advanced degree strongly preferred

• Proven experience in the insurance or financial industry preferably in Compliance Legal Risk Management or Internal Audit.

• Excellent attention to detail is required

• Ability to interact at all levels of the organization with strong organizational awareness.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking/presentation skills and well developed listening and negotiation skills.

• Ability to understand law and regulation as it applies to the insurance industry.

• Knowledge of relevant Canadian and international financial industry legislation would be an asset

• Strong written skills with the ability to draft policies manuals and training materials

• Ability to work independently

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify issues and recommend solutions

• Strong relationship management skills
