Job Summary

Opportunity Summary:

This internship provides undergraduate students with hands-on exposure to corporate security operations within a behavioral healthcare systems Department of Public Safety. The intern will support departmental leadership with administrative and analytical functions related to security data collection reporting and risk assessments. The patient population served includes the entire behavioral health hospital campus encompassing both inpatient and outpatient programs as well as the full staff population. The primary focus is on security operations risk management and the use of technical security platforms including access control and video surveillance systems.

Opportunity Time Frame:

The internship will take place during the spring academic semester for a total of 12-14 weeks. Initial onboarding and training will occur during the first 23 weeks and will include orientation policy review and system-specific instruction. Interns are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling during the normal business hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The start date will align with the academic institutions spring semester calendar.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a criminal justice homeland security public safety or related field with an interest in corporate security and/or law enforcement. The student must be in good academic standing and able to meet healthcare onboarding requirements including background screening confidentiality agreements and mandatory training. Strong organizational skills basic computer proficiency and professionalism are required. Familiarity with data analysis reporting tools or security concepts is preferred but not required.

Learning Model:

Learning will occur through a combination of structured onboarding direct mentorship by Department of Public Safety leadership and hands-on task assignments. The intern will receive guided instruction on security systems policies and reporting processes along with opportunities for job shadowing and participation in meetings. Ongoing feedback check-ins and practical application of learned concepts will support skill development throughout the internship.

Student Expectations:

During the internship the student can expect a professional structured environment focused on real-world security operations within a healthcare setting. The intern will gain exposure to administrative security functions risk assessment processes and technical security platforms. At the completion of the internship the student will have developed foundational knowledge of corporate healthcare security operations strengthened analytical and professional skills and gained experience relevant to careers in corporate security or law enforcement.

Student Tasks:

*Assist with data collection analysis and reporting related to security incidents and trends
*Support completion and documentation of risk and vulnerability assessments
*Assist with administrative tasks related to access control and video surveillance systems
*Help maintain records dashboards and reports used by departmental leadership
*Participate in meetings audits and process improvement initiatives as appropriate
*Support special projects aligned with departmental priorities and student learning objectives
