The Team
The Indigenous Family Service and Intake teams are committed passionate dedicated and supportive team that works closely with Indigenous communities. We are looking for individuals who are devoted to helping others and improving the lives and wellbeing of Indigenous children youth and teams have the honor and privilege of working with Indigenous communities in the surrounding area engaging and collaborating with community partners provincial federal and non-governmental agenciesElders and Roots Practioners to support cultural connections for children and their families and to promote cultural understanding for caregivers and staff. We strive to enhance service delivery ensure child safety and meet the needs of Indigenous children youth and families. The teams work in ways that honor truth-telling wisdom of community and culture and focuses on creative ways to meet the needs of children youth and families.

The Role
In this role you will deliver a broad range of child safety and prevention-based services to Indigenous children youth and their families while incorporating Indigenous cultural perspective. You will work within a multidisciplinary approach to ministry programs and services in accordance with legislation and policies. You will ensure culturally safe and trauma-informed practices that support and honor Indigenous peoples cultural systems. This position offers a valuable opportunity to work with Indigenous communities engaging and learning in meaningful ways.. Your work will support some of the most vulnerable children in B.C. who face a range of challenges. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

2. Expanded Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelors Degree witha Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Masters level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelors Degree.
  • PLUS a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
  • Eligible for delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA).
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Please note:

  • Applicants may be considered who have not yet graduated but have completed all required courses and are able to provide a letter from their educational institution confirming completion of degree requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

About this Position:
3 Positions available.
There is one (1) temporary opportunity in Burnaby until August 6 2026.
There are two (2) temporary opportunities in Port Moody; One until June 30 2026 and one until December 31 2026.
These positions may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
