Job Summary

What you will Do

Southern Cross is hiring full-time night shift drivers to support our Advanced Mobile Leak Detection (AMLD) program which surveys natural gas pipeline systems using specialized vehicle-based technology. This role is designed for drivers who can work primarily third shift travel extensively as assignments require and operate safely and independently while following defined routes and procedures. Drivers must also be available for emergency driving assignments outside of their normal schedule including nights weekends and other non-standard hours when urgent client needs arise.

Driver Duties

Candidates should be comfortable using technology such as cell phones tablets and laptops including working across multiple applications and must be willing to learn routine troubleshooting procedures to keep equipment operating properly while in the field.

This position typically works 10-hour night shifts with a standard schedule of Sunday evening (around 8:00 PM) through Thursday morning (around 4:00 AM) depending on assignment needs.

Candidates must maintain a clean DMV driving record and agree to operate a company vehicle equipped with telematics including in-cab cameras capable of recording video in-cab coaching features and forward-facing cameras capable of recording video.

Drivers must also be comfortable working independently and operating alone for extended periods.

Training

Training is paid and typically lasts about one week but it may be extended as needed to ensure drivers are fully prepared to perform the work safely and independently.

Physical and Additional Requirements

Ability to sit and drive up to 10 hours per shift with two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute meal period; ability to walk 35 miles per day and perform frequent bending crouching and kneeling; ability to carry a minimum of 20 lbs. of equipment; proficiency with small hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers and basic diagnostic tools such as multimeters. Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with customers while demonstrating strong customer service follow all company and client procedures and perform other duties as assigned. Must be available for overtime as needed (including weekends) and be comfortable using computers and technology.

Responsibilities & Duties

Ability to travel up to 50% of the year based on assignment needs which may include occasional weekend work for mobilization demobilization or urgent project support.

Ability to perform basic vehicle and equipment troubleshooting including routine checks and resolving common technology or application issues to keep the vehicle and system operational.

Ability to drive overnight (third shift) and maintain safe performance in a wide range of road and weather conditions including rain fog and winter conditions when applicable.

Must consistently adhere to all company and client safety policies procedures and quality requirements including documentation standards and safe-driving expectations.

What you will earn

The starting pay for this position is $23.00 to $26.00 per hour based on experience.

Travel Expenses

When requested by the company to travel overnight you will receive a $40 per night per diem for meals and approved addition if the assignment location is within 300 miles of your home location you will be paid your normal hourly rate for travel. If the assignment location is more than 300 miles from your home location you will be paid a $120.00 daily travel stipend. For assignments exceeding two weeks drivers will be paid to travel back to their home location one weekend per month.

Employment is contingent upon passing background and drug screenings and maintaining a clean motor vehicle record.
