Amazons diverse business requires VAT filings in a number of jurisdictions globally. Amazon is seeking a VAT Compliance Senior Tax Analyst to work in its International Indirect Tax Compliance team based in Mexico City. The Amazon tax team is a fast-paced team-focused and operates in a dynamic environment. This position will be responsible (as part of a larger team) for the preparation of indirect tax returns and related filings.
You will be expected to own critical VAT compliance activities support internal and external audits liaise with colleagues across tax and the wider business and participate in business projects on behalf of indirect tax. You should possess a strong understanding of ERP systems and intermediate to strong technical accounting skills. You will also be expected to identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls and drive positive change across the organization.
Key job responsibilities
Working within the International Indirect Tax Compliance team the Senior VAT Compliance Analyst will be required to:
Prepare analyze and submit VAT returns and related filings.
Support internal and external audit processes including comprehensive data analysis and documentation management.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives for tax compliance activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper tax requirements are implemented in technical solutions.
Maintain and reconcile tax accounts through month-end closing processes.
Provide tax compliance guidance to business teams and support new business launches.
Ensure compliance with regional requirements and maintain proper documentation for tax authorities.
Participate in cross-functional projects focused on automation and process optimization.
Support business growth initiatives and integration of new entities into tax compliance processes.
- 3 years of tax finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelors degree in accounting finance business or related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- Knowledge of indirect tax in a global regions
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills attention to detail and effective communication abilities
- Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool such as Python SQL Alteryx Amazon QuickSight or similar
- Knowledge of international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
