About the role

This position is responsible for contract management administration. The Procurement & Contracts Officer will be required to work closely with various departments to understand their specific requirements source appropriate suppliers and maintain positive relationships with vendors.

They will provide procurement expertise and assists stakeholders to plan develop source and manage procurement arrangements to effectively meet organisational and business objectives in a timely manner according with Councils purchasing policies.

Daily you will:

  • Assist in confirming stakeholder requirements gather and analyse market information and assess risks to support procurement planning and sourcing decisions.

  • Conduct sourcing activities in line with council policies and procedures and participate in negotiations.

  • Collaborate with the Procurement Team to coordinate supply functions develop and implement supply strategies and policies.

  • Maintain and update the contracts management database implement contract management plans monitor performance resolve issues and ensure timely renewals to minimize risk.

  • Provide advice and guidance on procurement matters influence stakeholders to promote good practices maintain records generate compliance reports and identify and escalate procurement risks

About You

The successful candidate should have 4 years in government or equivalent experience with degree qualifications in business logistics or a related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience.

You will also bring:

  • Broad knowledge of purchasing and compliance processes.

  • Experience in an ERP Financial System preferably Technology One Financials but not essential.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills.

  • A sound understanding of the procurement legislation or similar.

  • Ability to provide training across a broad range of procurement related subjects.

  • Ability to interpret and determine legislative impacts in relation to procurement responsibilities.

  • Experience in preparing reports policies and correspondence in a government context.
