Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Full Time New Grad Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department in Charlottesville VA!
Hours: This is a three 12-hour shift position from 7p to 7a with Required call. Rotation or Day shift hours may be required for training.
Required Call: Full Time nurses have 16 hours of required call per 6 weeks
Orientation: New Grad Registered Nurses can expect orientation of 18 weeks on the unit.
Sign on bonus up to $7500 available for qualified new grad candidates!
Emergency Department: The Main ED at SMJH sees between 70 and 100 patients per day. This well-supported department is centered around teamwork and patient- first an emergency quick access to skilled care makes all the difference. Thats why Sentara offers access to emergency services 24 hours a day seven days a week. Our management team has been long-standing and diligent about building a cohesive and dedicated care team to serve the Charlottesville VA area.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidence- based practice /nursing research quality evaluation resource utilization and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas
Education
Students in process of obtaining Degree in Registered Nursing
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
Students in process of obtaining an RN License
Registered nursing License (Required)
ACLS required prior to completion of orientation
PALS required prior to completion of orientation
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Experience
None required
Critical care experience in hospital preferred or previous ED Tech experience
Capstone in Emergency Department Preferred
Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
Communication with patients and providers
