Essential Job Functions
Perform duties of a histologist to assist in daily workload by performing assigned tasks.
Develop implement and document orientation training and education to ensure employee competence provide excellent services and meet accreditation requirements by effective verbal or written communication.
Perform titrations on all existing immunohistochemical reagents by following all laboratory policies procedures and standard references
Assist in preparation for and participate in inspections proficiency testing and properly maintain records to fulfill the requirements of the accrediting agencies (i.e. College of American Pathologists (CAP) Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) by following the provided protocol. Prepare for and participate in inspections proficiency testing Quality Assurance activities properly maintain records prepare and update section policies and procedures to fulfill the requirements of the accrediting agencies (i.e. CAP JCAHO) by following the provided protocol.
Maintain and encourage open communication internally and externally to coordinate activities and provide quality laboratory services utilizing appropriate techniques. Participate as a team member to facilitate the efficiency and effectiveness of the section utilizing interpersonal skills in communication cooperation and assisting coworkers in all areas.
Schedule:
Day Shift: Mon-Fri with rotating weekends. Start times could be between 4am-8am.

Job Requirements
Education
Successful completion of an approved histotechnician or histotechnologist program or an associates degree with at least 12 credit hours in biology and chemistry required.
Above education is not required if Histotechnician certification was received prior to 2004.
Experience
1 years experience preferred .
3 years experience preferred.
License/Certifications
National certification as a Histotechnician () through the American Society for Clinical Pathology required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Computer skills required.
