Job Summary

George Fox Universitys Department of Theology is seeking a half-time teaching-track (non-tenure) faculty member in Christian Ministries and Theology to begin in August 2026. We seek applicants with the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate theology courses giving priority to candidates with ministry experience and academic expertise in one or more of the following areas: cross-cultural and global missions/missiology practical theology biblical theology or church history.


About the Job:

George Fox University a Christ-centered community dedicated to excellence in liberal arts and professional education invites applications for a half-time teaching-track position in Christian Ministries and Theology beginning in Fall 2026. Applicants should hold a terminal degree (PhD or DMin) and demonstrate excellence as pastor-theologians and teachers. (MDiv or ABD applicants may be considered in rare cases if they have a compelling track record of ministry experience and high-level scholarship.) We seek candidates who can teach with creativity and excellence in a variety of contexts including large introductory lecture courses (more than 100 students) and smaller upper-level ministry-focused courses. We particularly welcome applicants with a specialization in areas such as cross-cultural and global missions/missiology practical theology biblical theology or church history.


Job Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Teaching a 2/2 load (two courses per semester) including courses in Global Christianity and Mission World Religions Spiritual Formation and Advanced Christian Ministries (topical by instructor choice). This may also include contributing to first-year general education courses (The Bible and Christianity) which provide a compelling introduction to Christian Scripture and theology as well as an orientation to the Christ-centered mission of the university.
  • Developing and maintaining ongoing relationships and/or partnerships with local and regional churches and ministries.
  • Participating in the work of the department and the university including service on university committees as needed.
  • Mentoring students interested in careers in church and pastoral ministry global missions nonprofit leadership and higher education.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others including employees students and the public in a spirit of teamwork respect and customer service.
  • By actions words and lifestyle be a Christian role model to students whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:

  • The ability to maintain an active and productive agenda of academic or public scholarship.
  • Substantial experience leading and serving in church or other ministry-related contexts.
  • An academic specialization in areas such as cross-cultural and global missions/missiology practical theology biblical theology or church history.

Salary and Rank:

  • Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
