About the Role

Reporting to the Director Operational Strategy the System Analyst Operational Strategy is responsible to support Brookfield Renewables North America Trading and Marketing platform with a primary focus on Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) tools. This role emphasizes process automation programming and advanced analytics including building price curves and leveraging modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and document business requirements ensuring alignment with trading and risk management objectives.
  • Prepare BRDs/BCDs including functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain price curves and related analytical models.
  • Drive process automation initiatives using advanced tools.
  • Collaborate on programming tasks and data workflows using DataBricks Alteryx.
  • Investigate analyze and document specifications for ETRM software issues enhancements and updates.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and manage system configuration changes.
  • Facilitate sessions to identify areas for process and system improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure knowledge base consistency.
Technical Skills Required
  • Process Automation Expertise: Ability to design and implement automated workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Strong Mathematical and Analytical Skills: Capable of working on algorithmic methodologies and complex data modeling.

Programming & Data Tools:

  • Python for scripting and automation.
  • Databricks for data engineering and analytics.
  • Alteryx for data preparation and process automation.
  • SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
  • ZEMA Global knowledge is considered an asset.
Requirements
  • Understanding of Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business Engineering Information Technology Mathematics or a related field.
  • 13 years of experience in business/system analysis or equivalent.
  • Experience with ETRM business applications (knowledge of Pioneer TRM Tracker and/or OATI Webtrader) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with electricity physical or financial markets is an asset.
