Position Title: Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Department: Child Support Enforcement Division
Reports to: Child Support Enforcement Division Chief
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: 7:30 A.M. 4:30 P.M. Monday Friday (variable shift/hours may apply)
Duties/Responsibilities
Represent the State of Ohio in child support enforcement actions including hearings administrative appeals and court motions. Prepare and file legal documents such as pleadings motions and support orders. Conduct case review legal analysis and factual investigation. Present cases in court and advocate for enforcement of child support obligations. Work closely with child support caseworkers state agencies and other partners to support families and ensure compliance. Participate in ongoing training mentoring and team meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: Juris Doctor
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio. Attorneys recently admitted to the bar will be considered. Preferred applicants will have at least three years of practice experience in the area of child support. This position is full time; no private practice is allowed.
Required Skills:
-Ability to manage a caseload and work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
-Must possess the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
-Must possess excellent research and writing skills and requisite understanding of relevant law and regulations; and
-Must possess qualities of fairness a strong work ethic and have the highest integrity.
-Must maintain client confidentiality.
Supplemental Information
Pay and Benefits:
Salary range is from $55000.00 to $67500.00 depending upon experience. Attorneys are unclassified employees who serve at the pleasure of the Prosecuting Attorney. Position includes full benefits including health care vacation sick leave Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility wellness incentives Employee Assistant Plan Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and an optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. Continuing legal education credits are also available.
