The Team

At the Victoria or Colwood Crown Counsel office youll join an established team of professionals including Legal Clerks Legal Assistants Senior Legal Analysts and Paralegals. This close-knit group promotes public safety justice and respect for the rule of law through fair and effective prosecutions and appeals. The teams strong communication and collaboration create a supportive environment where everyone works together to uphold these important values.

The Role

As a Legal Assistant you will support Crown Counsel in preparing prosecution case files for court proceedings. Working under the supervision of Crown Counsel and the Office Manager you will perform a variety of legal services in a high-profile and fast-paced office. Your role requires flexibility teamwork tact diplomacy communication and strong organizational skills to ensure the efficient accurate and timely completion of responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience working as an administrative or legal assistant in an office environment.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Successful completion of an Administrative Assistant Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate.
  • Experience working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
  • One year or more experience working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
  • Experience working within the criminal justice sector.
  • Experience working in the BC Prosecution Service.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
3 Positions are available.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
