Staff Accountant - Payroll Coordinator Staff Accountant - Payroll Coordinator Position Status: Full-time Classification: Exempt SUMMARY The Payroll Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the organizations payroll systems. This employees primary responsibility is prompt and accurate payroll processing and other related tasks including recordkeeping and general reporting filing tax reports processing deductions preparing journal entries documenting and updating procedures implementing process improvements preparing ad hoc reports and other duties as assigned. This position requires sound financial management principles and a broad knowledge of applicable laws rules and regulations that govern religious and non-profit entities. The Payroll Coordinator assists all entities of Victory Church including Victory Christian School Victory College Camp Victory and Tulsa Dream Center. This role will report directly to the Controller/ Director of Accounting. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Manage the semi-monthly processing of payroll.
- In conjunction with HR act as liaison with Department Heads regarding adjustments and account transfers.
- Oversees benefits reconciliations.
- Calculate manual adjustments.
- Audit payroll and personnel records.
- Stay informed about changes in wage and labor tax law.
- Utilize accounting system billing systems and spreadsheets.
- Perform various complex account analyses and reconciliations.
- Assist with the month-end closing process conduct research and make correction journal entries for account discrepancies prepare closing journal entries post accrual entries and prepare financial statements.
- Execute maintain prepare and review payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions records and reports for all salaries benefits garnishments taxes and other deductions.
- Comply with federal state and local payroll wage and hour laws and best practices.
- Prepare documentation for external auditors.
- Recommend process improvements to streamline operations eliminate redundancies as much as practical.
- Generate correspondence as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in finance accounting business or economics recommended but not required.
- 4 years of experience in accounting or related field payroll preferred.
- Must be proficient with computers and administrative process management.
- Native English speaker (or) the capacity to successfully pass a TOEFL Exam with instructional proficiency.
- Good communication problem solving and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition.
- Ability to effectively plan organize and implement processes systems and activities.
- Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Experience in operating an accounting 10-key calculator.
