Role Overview: Seek out underserved Veterans and their family members in need of supportive services. Provide culturally appropriate path-finding services to connect them to programs that promote housing stability financial stability social engagement and healthy living. Offer a standardized set of quick effect stabilization interventions and then connect clients to a service hub information or follow on services. Connect homeless veterans to a housing assessment and then housing services provided by a Housing Navigator. This position is funded by King Countys Veterans Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL). Key Responsibilities: - Employ effective strategies to seek out and specialize in serving Veterans of Color and their family members and connect (path-find) them to community-based services that promote housing stability financial stability social engagement and healthy living.
- Be or become attuned to the culturally- and community-appropriate manner(s) of delivering path-finding services.
- Assess needs and identify appropriate services and needed resources.
- Help clients acquire necessary documentation and overcome barriers to resources.
- Establish presence throughout King County where Veterans are likely to be found.
- Stay current in knowledge of resources throughout King County.
- Establish collaborative relations with individuals and organizations who also serve veterans within King County This includes but is not limited to other Pathfinders King County Veterans Program Washington Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
What Were Looking For: - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Honorable Discharged Veteran.
- Current Drivers License insurance and reliable transportation for travel throughout King County.
- Pass required background checks.
- Obtain Agency Affiliated Counselor registration within the first week of hire.
- Knowledge of Veterans culture and benefits.
- Veterans are encouraged to apply.
