Job Summary

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of a SEND Assessment & Review Officer on a 3.5-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 26.78- 36.66 per hour

Summary:

The SEND Assessment & Review Officer is responsible for promoting professional standards by delivering outcome-focused assessments and contributing to the wider success of the Councils Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services. The role ensures that children and young people receive high-quality Education Health and Care (EHC) assessments and annual reviews within statutory timeframes. Acting as a single point of contact the officer supports the Local Authority in meeting the requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Education Health & Care (EHC) needs assessments and write clear outcome-focused plans that represent the child or young persons needs.
  • Ensure all assessments and annual reviews are completed within statutory timeframes in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Work with practitioners (Social Workers Educational Psychologists etc.) to identify when specialist involvement is required and lead multi-professional meetings.
  • Support formal disagreement resolution attend mediation meetings and assist senior officers with case chronologies and Tribunal preparation.
  • Promote the Local Offer and uphold the Councils equality diversity and inclusion policies in all interactions.

Qualification:

  • Recognised and relevant professional qualifications such as teaching qualifications social work or other Level 3 or management qualifications

Essentials:

  • A sound understanding and practice of working within multi-disciplinary teams and leading multi-agency meetings.
  • Experience in assessing and managing risks for vulnerable children.
  • Experience working with IT client databases and maintaining accurate case records.
  • Experience working within safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a Basic DBS
