The Boeing CompanyBoeing Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems is currently hiring multiple Entry-Level Associate Test Systems Design and Analysis Engineers (STE) to join us as part of our Special Test Equipment for Space Electronics team located in El Segundo CA.
The Special Test Equipment (STE) team at The Boeing Companys Satellite Development Center in El Segundo California is seeking all levels of Electrical Engineers with skills and familiarity in Power/Digital and RF/Mixed Signal Systems for Space Applications. Our team is a critical part of Boeings mission ensuring the reliability and performance of advanced space electronics through the design development and validation of state-of-the-art testing equipment.
Our engineers work on a variety of space-grade electronics from power and digital subsystems to RF/mixed signal systems. The STE team is responsible for the cradle-to-grave design build validation and support of the specialized test equipment that ensures these flight products and systems perform as intended in their extreme operating environments.
The Special Test Equipment (STE) team plays a pivotal role in the realization of Boeings groundbreaking space initiatives but also supports the entirety of the Boeing Defense and Security product line and even some Boeing Commercial Aviation products. As part of our collective efforts you will contribute to diverse projects ranging from cutting-edge satellite communication systems to advanced exploration ventures. Your expertise will have a direct impact on crucial missions such as the development of the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system - a high capacity satellite communications system for the United States Defense Department; the X-37B - an unmanned reusable spaceplane; the CST-100 Starliner - a spacecraft designed to transport crew to the International Space Station and private space stations of the future and many more space based missions!
Moreover your contribution will not be limited to Earths orbit. We also conduct interplanetary missions like the Lunar Gateway - a small spaceship in orbit around the moon that astronauts will use as a staging point for lunar surface expeditions and trips to Mars.
In the ever-evolving arena of space technology the STE team will also participate in research and development initiatives focusing on futuristic technologies such as advanced propulsion systems spaceborne telescopes and spacecraft for asteroid mining and space-based solar power systems.

Position Responsibilities
Receive incoming test equipment crates and shipments at the STE Lab
Inspect incoming items for damage and verify contents against packing lists and purchase documentation
Tag all incoming equipment with uniquely identifiable asset tags and/or barcodes
Document new inventory entries into the centralized equipment inventory system immediately upon receipt
Maintain and update the master equipment inventory (make model serial number location custodian status)
Organize lab equipment storage areas for efficient access workflow and preservation of sensitive instruments
Create and maintain clear logical physical layout and labeling of equipment racks shelves and cabinets
Categorize and label equipment by function/use case (e.g. power supplies oscilloscopes spectrum analyzers RF test sets custom fixtures environmental chambers)
Rapidly recognize and distinguish types of test equipment and their intended use cases to enable correct organization and assignment
Act as equipment custodian for assigned assets: track custody control access and maintain usage records
Ensure all applicable test equipment is maintained on appropriate calibration schedules; coordinate calibrations with internal calibration lab or approved external vendors
Maintain calibration certificates and calibration history as part of the equipment record
Flag equipment out of calibration quarantine when necessary and communicate impact to stakeholders
Identify obsolete redundant or otherwise surplus equipment and prepare recommendations for disposal or surplus actions
Prepare and submit new test equipment requests justification documents and technical specifications to support procurement
Procure time-critical test equipment using team P-Card which requires specific training and attendance at recurring status meetings
Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) and track procurement status for requested equipment
Generate Capital Request Forms for common test equipment needed to support new/existing programs
Support rental equipment requests rental agreements and contracts; coordinate delivery and return schedules
Maintain vendor and service agreements for equipment calibration repair and rental
Coordinate repairs preventive maintenance and firmware updates with vendors and internal technicians
Maintain accurate documentation for all equipment: manuals schematics configuration records calibration certificates repair logs and acceptance testing records
Provide logistical support for lab builds test setups bench reconfigurations and technician/engineer requests
Train and advise lab users on proper handling storage and basic operational checks for common instruments
Track and manage consumables and spare parts inventory associated with test equipment (cables adapters probes connectors)
Maintain lab safety compliance: ensure correct electrical ESD chemical mechanical and environmental controls are in place for lab setups
Implement and enforce safety standards and best practices for lab configuration equipment operation and storage
Maintain and communicate lab access and usage policies; ensure only authorized personnel operate critical equipment
Provide routine status updates to STE management on equipment readiness shortages calibration status and procurement
Support multi-tasking in a dynamic lab environment; prioritize tasks independently based on safety schedule and mission impact
Help coordinate logistics for field/remote test support or off-site test events (packing shipping and tracking of instruments)
Archive and retain equipment records to support audits quality and program continuity
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This worksite participates in Boeings optional 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science)
2 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical
Demonstrated experience in a laboratory or electronics test environment with hands-on management of test equipment and tools
Strong ability to identify and distinguish between different kinds of test equipment and their typical use cases (power supplies DMMs signal generators oscilloscopes network analyzers spectrum analyzers RF test fixtures environmental chambers etc.)
Proven experience tagging tracking and managing inventory of technical assets
Experience coordinating calibration programs and maintaining calibration documentation
Proficient with Microsoft Office:ExcelWordPowerPoint andfamiliar with Project. Able to create spreadsheets equipment logs presentations and read or maintain project schedules
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to build maintain and enforce structured records and procedures
Able to work independently prioritize competing demands and multitask across multiple projects
Practical understanding of lab safety standards ESD controls and proper electrical safe work practices
Excellent communication skills: able to interact with engineers vendors procurement and management; able to prepare clear documentation and status reports
Familiarity with procurement processes and creating/processing Purchase Orders preferred
Ability to coordinate with vendors for rental agreements calibrations and repairs
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting and handling aerospace or space electronics
Experience with configuration management or asset-management systems (e.g. SAP Maximo CMDB tools or custom inventory databases)
Basic understanding of RF digital and power test methodologies to intelligently match equipment to test requirements
Experience handling large-format or heavy instrumentation and coordinating logistics for shipping/receiving
