Job Summary
Position Summary
Oversees the Academic Advising Center including a team of advisors. Assesses academic progress responds to student academic inquires assists in the resolution of academic problems and refers students to appropriate support services as necessary. Oversees the development of academic plans and class schedules. Develops and maintains appropriate files and records. Conducts outcomes assessment of academic advising services. Oversees budget management and development. Works closely with the Senior Director of Academic Advising & Student Success in implementation of new student onboarding and retention initiatives.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Oversee the activities of the Academic Advising Center providing oversight and supervision of a team of Academic Advisors. Also provide oversight of day to day activities in the Academic Advising Center. Provide training on Academic Advising and university policies and procedures. Oversee and coordinate processes related to centralized advising to best meet the needs of students at all undergraduate levels including individual and group coordination with advisors assess student academic progress and plans. Plan processes and outreach/intervention for student assistance persistence and retention in coordination with the Academic Success Center ( ASC ). Serve as point person for faculty and staff referrals in such areas as student absences course withdrawals below fulltime status and medical withdrawals. Assess and resolve issues expediently providing feedback to necessary personnel. Advise a diverse caseload of students as coordination with advisors attend to student academic inquires the resolution of academic problems and referral of students to appropriate support services as necessary by utilizing EAB Alerts & Cases. Work in partnership with Deans faculty and Ram Success program for planning each semester. Produce periodic reports tracking data such as but not limited to registration retention academic standing and mid-term grades. Collaborate with the Dean of Freshman Success to conduct advising workshops in ASE courses and other ways to educate students on the GEC major degree requirements reading their degree audit and registration procedures. Coordinate with the Assistant Dean of Students Senior Director of Academic Advising & Student Success and faculty in regards to high risk student interventions. Coordinate with other offices on campus to assist students. Use Acadeum platform for course recommendations for students needing an alternative to meet graduation requirements in a timely manner including monitoring submitting and approving shared courses for students. Collaborate with the Senior Director of Academic Advising & Student Success Admissions Student Life Registrars Office Financial Aid International Programs and Cashiers Office for a streamlined registration process for incoming students. Engage in the Universitys Institutional Effectiveness Process including annual planning and assessment applying effective methods of service evaluation and continuous improvement for the Academic Advising. Collaborate with Director of Retention to support and refine retention efforts across the University including recruitback. Oversee budget management and development for the Academic Advising Center. Engage in other duties as assigned. Some evenings and weekends required.
