At Catapult we are supporting our member Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County in their search for a Wastewater Project Engineer. This is a fully onsite role in Concord NC. Local & non-local candidates are encouraged to apply.
Summary
The Wastewater Project Engineer is responsible for performing professional work in the planning design and construction of WSACC water distribution/treatment and wastewater transmission/treatment facilities. This role manages project activities for major expense and capital improvement projects works closely with staff and local government officials from jurisdictions/entities serviced by WSACC and coordinates with regulatory agencies at the local state and federal levels. The position is supervised by the Engineering Director and requires a high degree of independent project management and technical knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan design and oversee the construction of water and wastewater distribution and treatment facilities.
- Manage project activities for major capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate with local government officials consultants engineers and regulatory agencies.
- Review engineering plans prepare project specifications and manage construction administration.
- Prepare cost estimates and specifications for projects.
- Supervise and plan the work of other employees on assigned projects.
- Perform related work as needed or assigned.
Competencies & Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering principles practices and contract management.
- Thorough understanding of processes required for implementing new data into the Flow Acceptance System.
- In-depth knowledge of equipment and materials used in the construction of water and wastewater systems.
- Considerable knowledge of engineering principles related to water and wastewater collection and treatment.
- General knowledge of federal state and local regulations relating to utility system operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to present ideas and technical information.
- Project management skills including the ability to plan and execute projects independently and to prepare cost estimates and specifications.
- Supervisory ability to oversee the work of other employees and coordinate with various stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consultants engineers regulatory agency representatives associates and the public.
Education
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Moderate experience in water/wastewater engineering project design engineering plan review construction administration project coordination bid coordination and contract administration.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Licenses/Certifications:
- NC Engineering Intern (EI) license required or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.
- Valid North Carolina Drivers License required.
