Subject to formal establishment a vacancy may arise for a Gp Capt (Any) to serve as Gp Capt Ops - 2 Gp Res HQ at RAF High Wycombe on ADC (180 Days) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of not before 01 April 2026 (or later subject to candidate status). Brief description of role:
As Gp Capt Ops you are part of the 2 Gp Reserves HQ Team working to ACOS 2 Gp Reserves. You are the lead for directing 2 Gp Reserves Operate and A35 activity ensuring coherence with and support to wider 2 Gp planning activity as well as linking in with other Reserve stakeholders including Strat Plans and the Inspectorate to help synchronise activity and ensure policy keeps pace with preparedness progress. Your duties include Line Management responsibility for the 2 Gp Res COS and the day-to-day direction and guidance of activity across 2 Gp Reserves HQ as well as routine liaison with the DAOC and HQ 2 Gp OF5 stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the 2 Gp Reserves lead for Reserve Operate and A35 activity.
- Develop 2 Gp Reserves capability iso warfighting and BaU.
- Produce a bespoke 2 Gp Reserves operating model and delivery plan.
- Reserves lead for integration of Reserves within operational planning.
- Ensure 2 Gp Reserves needs and outputs are factored into HQ Air planning activity.
- Provide challenges to policy that inhibit the Gps capacity to maximise its reservist utility.
- Provide Reserve SME advice to HQ 2 Gp Comd GE.
- Identify where reservists could make a significant contribution to the Whole Force effort.
- Within existing C2 constructs support the professional development of part-time and full-time Reserve staff delivering in support of 2 Gp.
- Promote an inclusive culture working to increase understanding and engagement through education and initiative.
