AboutThe Position


The Lecturer in Social Work will contribute to theSchoolsteaching and research activities within their professional and disciplinaryexpertiseby delivering high-quality undergraduatehonoursand postgraduate teaching; designing and moderating assessment; developing curriculum and online learning materials; and implementing improvements informed by evaluation and feedback. The role requiresmaintainingand advancing scholarly professional and research capabilities through undertaking independent research managing projects within timelines and budgets producing high-quality publications pursuing external funding opportunities and supervising higher-degree-by-research candidates.

The Lecturer will foster strong connections with the social work profession and relevant academic industry and community partners to promote the program support collaboration and enhance external engagement while also working collegially with colleagues to contribute to a positive teaching culture and keep staff and students informed of developments in the Social Work discipline. The position also includes administrative responsibilities which may involve course coordination or oversight of a small award program

Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field&AASW Membership

To be successful in this positionyoullhave:

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels including online delivery and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.

  • Ability to undertake course coordination role.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively withstudentsespecially on issues related to effective learning.

  • Emergingtrack recordand recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areasevidencedby publications development of new research initiatives competitive research funding and industry links.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higherdegreeby research candidates.

  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higherdegreeby research candidatesstaffand industry together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing lived experience
