Are you a safety leader who thrives in a dynamic operational environment Lynas is seeking an experienced HSE Superintendent to champion health safety and environmental excellence at our Kalgoorlie Operations.
The Opportunity:
The HSE Superintendent is responsible for leading and coordinating all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) activities across the Lynas Kalgoorlie Operations. This position ensures compliance with statutory requirements implementation of Lynas HSE Management Systems and delivery of sustainable safety and environmental performance.
This role also includes performing Alternate Senior Site Executive (SSE) duties as required.
You will be responsible for:
Leadership & HSE Culture
- Lead implement and continually improve Lynas HSE Management Systems.
- Provide coaching mentoring and visible leadership to employees contractors and frontline leaders.
- Champion Lynas values and help shape a safe respectful and sustainable workplace culture.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all legislative obligations regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
- Monitor HSE performance identify risks and ensure effective mitigation strategies.
- Conduct site inspections audits and verifications ensuring timely corrective actions.
Incident & Emergency Management
- Facilitate incident investigations including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Support emergency management preparedness and participate in emergency response activities.
Training & Capability Development
- Coordinate HSE training programs to build capability across the site.
- Mentor the HSE team in best-practice systems leadership and technical skills.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with regulators contractors community stakeholders and internal teams.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HSE performance to site and corporate leadership.
Team Management
- Lead and manage the site HSE team providing performance direction development support and ongoing coaching.
About you:
- Diploma in Work/Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
- Certificate IV Ventilation Officer statutory role as Ventilation Officer.
- Western Australian C-Class Drivers Licence.
- WHS units of competency for Alternate SSE Duties (Schedule 26):
- RIIRIS501E or BSBWHS513
- BSBWHS411
- RIIRIS402E
- Schedule 26 Exam Certificate of Completion
Desirable:
- Graduate Diploma or Masters in WHS/OHS.
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
- Certificate IV in Lead Auditing.
Experience & Skills:
- Extensive experience in mining mineral processing or chemical manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience in HSE supervisory or superintendent roles.
- Strong mentoring coaching and capability-building skills across HSE and operations teams.
- Ability to plan prioritise and manage team workflows and budgets.
- Experience managing Integrated Management Systems and knowledge management tools.
- Strong understanding of principal mining hazard identification and HSE risk assessment facilitation.
- Knowledge of WA workers compensation and injury management processes.
- Competence in using HSE software for reporting data analysis and risk mitigation.
- Experience with ISO 45001 ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems.
- In-depth knowledge of WA legislation codes of practice and applicable standards.
- Auditing expertise across operations and contractors.
- ICAM Lead Investigator and/or Incident/Crisis Management Team experience.
- Lead Auditor Management Systems (highly regarded).
