About the role:
Weseekto appoint aPsychologistor qualified Counsellor with specialist knowledge of youth mental health to support the needs of young people in the Geelong Grammar School environment. This position is offered on a part-time basis 2 days per week 8.30am-4.30pm (must work Tuesdays plus one other day -MondayWednesdayorFriday) during term time onlycommencingstart of Term 1 2026.
Our team of Psychologists/Counsellors provide on-site counselling to students conductassessmentsand liaise with other multidisciplinary staff (including General PractitionersNursesand other Geelong Grammar School staff) tofacilitateand coordinate student access to treatment asrequired.
The School Psychologistis responsible forthe following tasks:
Providingcounsellingto students asrequired
Liaisingand collaboratingwith other multidisciplinary staff (including Geelong Grammar School staff) tofacilitateand coordinate student access to treatment and positive outcomes
Maintainingadequate professional records of clinical practice
Activelyparticipatein meetings focusing on student management and case consultation.
Maintainingappropriate confidentialitywith students and advocatingon their behalf whenrequired
Ensuringongoing professional development and continuous improvement
Preparingreports or sharinginformation asappropriate inreference to student mental health and the impact issues may have on student academic and life circumstances
Demonstratinga high regard for students and their family in the context of theoverallGeelong GrammarSchoolcommunity
About you:
To be successful in this role you will need:
Advancedcounsellingskills
Knowledge of adolescent mental health and interventions
Relevant tertiary qualifications
Current Driver License
Must have a Working with Children Check (Employee)
Registration as a psychologist with AHPRA or registration with a professionalcounsellingbody such as ACA
