The Student Pantry Coordinator will play a vital role in the successful operation and growth of the universitys food and clothing pantry. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop leadership organizational marketing and community engagement skills while directly impacting student well-being. The Coordinator will manage daily operations maintain inventory lead promotional efforts and serve as the primary student ambassador for the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pantry Operations and Organization

  • Inventory Management: Regularly clean sort and organize all donated food items (canned goods dry goods fresh produce etc.) and clothing/accessory items.

  • Quality Control: Monitor expiration dates on food items and the condition of clothing ensuring all available items are safe and appropriate for distribution.

  • Stocking and Display: Ensure pantry shelves and clothing racks are consistently stocked tidy and arranged in an accessible respectful manner.

  • Supply Needs: Report on inventory levels and suggest replenishment needs for essential supplies (e.g. cleaning materials bags organizational bins).

  1. Digital Presence and Communication

  • Website Development & Maintenance: Design build and continuously update a user-friendly website or app to showcase the types of food and clothing items currently available operating hours and eligibility requirements.

  • Virtual Inventory: Implement a simple system to virtually highlight or catalog available items ensuring discretion and clarity for students viewing the site.

  • Digital Outreach: Manage the pantrys online communication channels (e.g. social media posts email updates) to inform the student body about services donation drives and volunteer opportunities.

  1. Program Promotion and Marketing

  • Campaign Creation: Develop and execute creative marketing and promotional strategies to increase awareness and utilization of the pantry among the student population.

  • Event Planning: Coordinate and staff outreach events (e.g. table sits information sessions donation drives) to engage the community and destigmatize the use of the pantry.

  • Resource Development: Create appealing and informative flyers posters and digital content to promote the pantrys mission and services.

4. Student Ambassador and Service

  • Frontline Service: Serve as the primary friendly point of contact for students utilizing the pantry ensuring a welcoming non-judgmental and confidential experience.

  • Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to protocols regarding student privacy and data protection.

  • Partnership Engagement: Attend one mandatory monthly shift (e.g. 2-4 hours) at the partner food bank to build relationships assist with community-wide operations and better understand the food distribution supply chain.

  • Feedback Collection: Collect and communicate student feedback regarding pantry needs preferred items and service quality to the program supervisor.

  • Community Liaison: Act as a representative of the pantry program to various student groups clubs and campus departments.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an SFBU student in good standing.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn website design tools (e.g. Google Sites Wix WordPress) and social media platforms.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently manage time effectively and take initiative.

  • A genuine commitment to promoting student welfare and reducing hunger/clothing insecurity on campus.

Permanent Role (2): January 2026 - May 2026: 2 - 3 hours per week $20/hr Temporary Role (3): January 2026 - February 2026: 2 - 3 hours per week $20/hr
