A vacancy may arise for a Squadron Leader (Provost) to serve as Officer Commanding No 3605 Sqn at RAF Waddington within No 4 (RAuxAF) Police & Security Wing on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 01 May 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status). This post is subject to funding approval.

In accordance with AP3392 Vol 7 Part 2 Chap 6 the post is also open for applicants to apply on alternative TCOS including VeRR. Applicants are requested to make their TCOS preference clear in their application covering letter for review during the selection process. Applicants for alternative TCOS should state how the role could be delivered on their preferred TCOS for consideration by the selection board.

The Air Security Force (ASF) mission is to secure and protect the Air and Space missions capabilities and people through the delivery of counter threats police and protective security effects.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to take on the role of Officer Commanding No 3605 Squadron. This is a unique opportunity to lead develop and manage a team of RAF Police Part-Time Volunteer Reserves (PTVRs) ensuring they are trained prepared and ready to support the ASF and contribute to wider Defence outputs. The successful candidate will report directly to OC No 4 (RAuxAF) Police & Security Wing. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact within the RAF Police Reserves supporting both the regular ASF and the wider Defence mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide command leadership and management of the Sqn HQ team comprising FTRS and PTVR staff.
• Command lead and manage RAF Police reserve personnel at RAF Waddington and RAF Leeming ensuring a cohesive flexible and professional Force Element (FE) of the ASF.
• Oversee the efficient delivery of all 3605 Sqn outputs including readiness training and assurance administration and engagement.
• Support training and assurance for RAF Police reserve personnel at RAF Cosford (605 Sqn) under a Memorandum of Understanding.
• Foster an environment that attracts supports and develops PTVRs in the RAF Police Reserves offering meaningful opportunities for mobilisation and Reserve Service Days.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including the Reserves Directorate 2 Gp Reserves HQ ASF Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations Reserve Support Wings and parent stations/establishments.
