Stimulate support and develop St Pauls Prep pupils ensuring a safe environment that promotes a holistic education and provide a high quality British and Brazilian education that builds a foundation for life-long learning and promotes excellent pupil progress.

About St. Pauls School:

St. Pauls was founded in 1926 and was the first school in South America to receive accreditation from the UK government as a British School Overseas. Fully coeducational with about 1100 pupils aged from 3 to 18 it is a school with history and tradition but which embraces innovation contemporary values and the latest in digital learning. We are a world-class school and an international member of HMC and IAPS and a member of COBIS and the LAHC. Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high quality lessons (through a broad and balanced curriculum) that facilitate active learning using relevant resources including technology to support and differentiate instruction.

  • Help pupils develop the necessary values and behaviour serving as a strong role model developing in pupils a sense of self-discipline and an acceptance of responsibility for their own actions.

  • Oversee the physical social and emotional well-being of every pupil and by adhering to the safeguarding procedures and Prep School policies and rules and delivering pastoral programmes in order to support and guide every pupil as necessary.

  • Monitor and support the overall progress of pupils assessing and recording their development attainment and behaviour as well as liaising with other staff as appropriate.

  • Help to maintain a safe school environment and reinforce the rules and expectations regarding behaviour by carrying out duties in various areas of the school as required.

  • Prepare and write reports in line with the schools guidelines to ensure that there is formal documentation of attainment andprogress andcommunicate effectively with parents both orally and in writing as necessary.

  • Contribute to the development of enrichment programmes taking part in school outings school events and the clubs and society programme promoting rich learning opportunities.

  • Support the work of other colleagues by participating in planning and administrative meetings for the relevant year group nurturing a collaborative culture so that pupils learning and developmentare well supported.

  • Work with mentor and line manage class assistant to enable them to effectively support the teaching and learning in the classroom.

  • Take responsibility for ones own professional development using BlueSky to keep records of personal goals and achievements and actively participate in insets and training in and out of school.

Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. The offer of the role would be made subject to receipt of satisfactory references proof of relevant qualifications identification checks and other safeguarding checks (including Internet and Social Media profiles and exposure) an overseas check if appropriate and a pre-placement medical assessment. Proof of entitlement to work in Brazil is also required where necessary.

Job requirements

  • To have a university degree qualification;

  • To have a certified teaching qualification e.g. either a PGCE from the UK orPedagogiafrom a Brazilian university;

  • To have experience in the primary years;

  • To be have proficient computing skills;

  • To have knowledge offormative and summativeassessment;

  • To have knowledge of the2014EnglishNational Curriculum;

  • To be able to use a range of teaching techniques and strategies with confidence;

  • To have knowledge of behaviour management strategies;

  • To have a genuine interest in children their development and education;
