Fayetteville Public Schools will be opening a third junior high school for the 2027-28 school year and is currently looking for its next dynamic junior high principal! The successful candidate will begin July 1 2026 and will spend the first year acclimating to our school culture while planning for the opening of John L Colbert Junior High School. During the first year they will collaborate with and support current junior high school principals collaborate and plan alongside the Executive Director of Secondary Education support staffing efforts for the new building assist with student transition to the new building network with stakeholders for the new junior high school and formulate community partnerships. John L Colbert Junior High will serve approximately 500 students in grades seven and eight.

General Description of Position
The junior high school principal creates and shapes a culture of learning and provides instructional and administrative leadership at the school site over data curriculum budget operations guidance students and staff. The principal manages an environment where the student needs and curriculum requires a master schedule focused on specific data interventions personalized learning as well as a variety of activities and events. The junior high school principal directs and coordinates educational administrative and community partnerships at the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets Clear and compelling direction for the school that supports the district mission vision and strategic plan.
- Provides leadership for the development of instructional goals and objectives of the school to ensure continued student growth.
- Establishes a learning climate which supports the best teaching practices and instructional goals and objectives of the school
- Evaluates ALL students progress and areas of growth
- Provides leadership for the development of inservice/staff development programs
- Utilizes effective plant management practices
- Administers the school site budgets in accordance with district policy and procedure
- Guides staff in the determination of long-range plans and current goals and objectives
- Participates in the development and implementation of district-approved curriculum
- Plans organizes and directs the business operations of the school site including budgets in accordance with district policies and procedures
- Supervises and evaluates performance of assigned personnel
- Communicates effectively with students and families about programs individual student progress and high school readiness
- Directs preparation of master schedules and other school/district/state/federal reports
- Attends and supervises school activities such as assemblies and evening events at the school
- Plans and monitors the school budget
- Focuses on continuous improvement and collaborates with staff and stakeholders to develop and implement school improvement plans
- Identifies problems and solutions and utilizes strategic thinking to make decisions that impact students staff and families
- Possesses strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Oversees the implementation of district wide initiatives by the employees at the school level.
- Do regular walk-throughs and participate in grade level meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
Secondary School Administrator Experience is preferred.
