The Opportunity:
We are looking for Associate Tutor (Dissertation Supervisor) in Language Education for Masters research project on language teaching and intercultural communication related topics. This involves one-to-one work with allocated Masters students on the above programmes in person.
A range of existing materials will support supervision including a suggested timetable of meetings with students guidance for content of each meeting and guidance on marking and moderation of final submissions. You will also be able to exchange ideas and learn from other supervisors during our staff meetings organised by the Dissertation Course Organiser.
We are seeking candidates with expertise in the following areas:
- Language Education / TESOL / Language and Intercultural Communication
This post is a Student Experience fixed-term opportunity and will be offered on a Guaranteed Hours basis. Each tutor will be offered a guaranteed minimum offer of hours to work with course organisers in a range of supervision related activities including attending training sessions delivering face to face supervision meetings providing feedback participating in standardisation and moderation sessions and marking assessed elements of the courses.
The salary for this post is 41064 to 48822 per annum pro rata.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- You must be fully matriculated in a PGR programme within the University of Edinburgh.
- You must have passed your 1st year Progression Board.
- You must be resident in the UK for the duration of supervision and marking. If you leave the UK for data collection abroad you will not be able to continue working as a supervisor.
- You should have knowledge of the language education field.
- You should have experience teaching languages and/or supporting students at any educational level.
- You should discuss this opportunity with your supervisor before applying.
