Summary: |
The French teacher is responsible for delivering the curriculum at various levels through an immersion-type environment as well as for assessing student learning. The teacher is also expected to maintain open communication with parents and counselors/housemasters contribute to the regular functioning and development of the World Language Department attend meetings for students and teachers attend to administrative duties and fulfill other responsibilities/duties as a member of the broader community. |
Qualifications: |
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in French
- Appropriate DESE teaching license
- Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues including but not limited to meeting the learning needs of a diverse student body split-second decision making creative delivery of content navigating technology and anti-bullying curriculum instruction.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French
- Ability to use technology effectively
Desired Qualifications:
The World Language Department seeks a teacher who: - uses the target language for general instruction
- can utilize the offerings of our digital language lab
- has experience with people and customs from other cultures
- commands strong content knowledge of grammar and vocabulary outside of textbook structures
- commands knowledge of literature and other aspects of Italian culture
- is flexible
- can teach multiple grade and curriculum levels
- is willing to share with other department members what he/she knows is collegial with other department members
- believes in helping all students to help them achieve their potential including minority and low socio-economic students
- can implement modifications and accommodations required by an IEP
- has knowledge of the new Massachusetts Teacher Evaluation System

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To): |
- Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Plan and deliver lessons using a variety of strategies
- Develop a variety of assessments to evaluate student learning
- Recommend students for placement
- Write a variety of student-related reports (teacher comments college recommendations IEP assessments)
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum lesson and assessment design
- Communicate effectively with students colleagues parents and the community
- Perform Homeroom and Study Hall Duties
- Attend departmental and school-wide meetings
- Consistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students
- Responsible for implementing other job related duties as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: |
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day however there may be occasions for afterschool meetings (ex: Back to School Night). Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the teacher is frequently required to walk stand sit talk and hear. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The teacher must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
