Assistant Delivery Manager – 2IC Wellington

The Assistant Area Delivery Manager supports the Area Delivery Manager in delivering safe compliant and high-performing fulfilment operations. This role plays a critical part in coordinating fulfilment teams ensuring service excellence across The Warehouse Group brands and supporting the ongoing commercial viability of the business. 

With direct leadership responsibility for a small team this role is ideal for a developing operational leader who enjoys being hands-on thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about people leadership safety and continuous improvement. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

Operational Support & Performance 

• Support the Area Delivery Manager in achieving DC operational performance targets 

• Deliver service level agreements customer and store service KPIs and stock control targets 

• Ensure customer and fulfilment records are accurately maintained 

• Ensure the movement and storage of goods is completed effectively and efficiently 

People Leadership 

• Line manage coach and develop a team of fulfilment leaders and team members 

• Support workforce planning recruitment scheduling and training to meet safety and operational requirements 

• Build a high-performance culture aligned to company policies and values 

Safety & Compliance 

• Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations and company policies 

• Promote a proactive safety culture through training engagement and regular audits 

• Investigate incidents implement corrective actions and contribute to a safe working environment 

Stakeholder Collaboration 

• Work closely with Store Managers DC Managers Merchandising and Category Buying teams to align operations with business objectives 

• Partner with the Safety Partner and HRBP on people wellbeing and compliance matters 

• Collaborate with NLG Accounts Payable Fleet and Facilities & Maintenance teams to support seamless operations 

• Build strong working relationships with 3PL logistics partners and suppliers to ensure service quality and reliability 

Continuous Improvement 

• Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations and ways of working 

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency reduce cost and enhance customer outcomes 

• Use data and insights to support informed decision-making and operational improvements 

Qualifications :

• Experience in logistics supply chain distribution or fulfilment operations 

• Proven experience leading or supervising teams in an operational environment 

• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and compliance 

• Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders 

• A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to use data to drive outcomes
