The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) located in Charleston SC and the Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases are seeking a full-time academic Obesity Medicine specialist to participate in clinical care research and teaching. Applicants must be Board Certified in their primary field such as Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and BC/BE in Obesity Medicine.

The Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at MUSC has a distinguished history of clinical translational and basic research as well as a reputation of excellence in clinical care and education. Under the leadership of Drs Marc-Andre Cornier and Josh Neal the Division has focused on cardiometabolic disorders such as obesity and expanding on clinical services research and education in this area. A new weight management clinic was established in 2024 and has grown rapidly in its reach to patients in the Charleston area and beyond.

The successful applicant will be experienced in and passionate about Obesity Medicine. This individual will work closely with and support other providers including obesity medicine specialists bariatric surgeons endocrinologists internists gastroenterologists psychologists advanced practice providers and dieticians with the ongoing care and treatment of physician-directed obesity management. This individual will provide comprehensive care for the medical and surgical management of overweight and obesity and will be comfortable with managing weight related comorbidities. This individual will also have an essential role in contributing to the growth and development of comprehensive weight loss and wellness center services at MUSC.

The appointee will work with teams from endocrinology bariatric surgery and primary care including advanced practice providers and dietitians. Teaching duties will focus on education of fellows residents and medical students as well as improving faculty and staff education in the field of Obesity Medicine.

The successful candidate will hold an academic rank commensurate with experience.
