POSITION: Contract: 01 January 2026 31 December 2028

EXPERIENCE: 4-6 Years related experience

COMMENCEMENT: 01 January 2026

LOCATION: Hybrid: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation

Qualifications / Experience

Minimum mandatory qualifications:

Relevant IT Degree
7 years total experience required
5 years in a Mid to Senior role

Essential Skills Requirements

Backend Development:

Back End: Java Quarkus Framework Experience API design
Messaging Frameworks etc. JMS
Kafka
Experience using Maven as build tool

Database:

Databases: SQL Language using PostgreSQL

Testing:

Testing: Unit Test Frameworks like Junit

DevOps & Infrastructure:

Dev Ops: Operational Support
Docker: Knowledge how to build and use container images
Version Control: Knowledge in using git i.e. Github Enterprise
CI/CD: Build and Deployment Pipelines with Github Actions

Soft Skills:

Ability to work interdependently and to submit deliverables on time and with excellent quality
Self-starter
Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) on technical and non-technical level
Good written and verbal communication skills and Progressive and Creative thinker
Problem Solving capability
Above board work ethics - this is of utmost importance
Flexibility to take up different tasks in the project

Advantageous Skills Requirements

Cloud & Infrastructure:

Infrastructure: Having worked with Cloud technologies on AWS or Azure

Frontend Development:

Front End: Angular framework HTML CSS JavaScript or similar
Good understanding of frameworks and libraries like JavaScript jQuery TypeScript HTML CSS
Familiar with UX and using Figma

Role Requirements

Backend Development & Full Stack:

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join the team to deliver a streamlined user experience with opportunities to work on the frontend code base as well as the full stack
Conduct with the feature team members system analysis design development and testing for their assigned technical products or applications within the context of an agile/DevOps delivery model
Maintain and develop deploy and operate backend and frontend cross platform applications based on Java and Angular Frameworks

Testing & Quality:

Implement robust automated test cases to ensure technical solutions meet expected outcomes and business objectives

Documentation:

Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols as well as required system documentation

Operations & Support:

Support operational excellence goals through strong operations knowledge.
Resolve escalated support topics as part of tier-3 DevOps role to ensure the highest availability of critical applications

Innovation & Upgrades:

Plan and execute upgrade of existing applications tools and features.
Create solutions and solve problems using a cloud-native toolchain to ensure world-class uptime and business agility
