Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Azure Data Engineer to design build and optimize scalable data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role will support enterprise analytics reporting and data science initiatives with a strong focus on reliability performance and data governance.
The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with Azure data services and will work closely with Data Architects Analytics teams and business stakeholders in a regulated enterprise environment such as Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance.
Key Responsibilities
Design develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines using Azure-native services
Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ingest data from multiple sources (on-prem cloud APIs)
Implement data solutions using Azure Data Factory Azure Synapse Analytics Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2)
Develop and maintain data models for analytical and reporting use cases
Optimize data performance scalability and cost in Azure environments
Ensure data quality reliability and observability in partnership with Data QA and Governance teams
Implement security access controls and compliance standards for enterprise data platforms
Support UAT and production deployments including monitoring and troubleshooting
Collaborate with business analytics and architecture teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
Contribute to best practices standards and reusable frameworks for Azure data engineering
Required Qualifications
8 years of experience in Data Engineering
5 years of strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services
Extensive experience with:
Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Azure Synapse Analytics
Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)
Strong SQL skills for data modeling and performance tuning
Experience with data warehousing concepts (facts dimensions SCDs)
Experience working with structured and semi-structured data
Proficiency in Python or PySpark for data processing and transformations
Experience building pipelines in batch and near-real-time architectures
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience in P&C Insurance (Policy Claims Billing Actuarial data)
Experience with Databricks and Spark-based processing
Knowledge of Azure DevOps for pipeline automation
Experience with Power BI or downstream analytics platforms
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Information Systems or equivalent experience
