PURPOSE
The Assistant Director supports the Director in the overall administrative operational and financial management of the South Texas Institute of the Arts. This role provides leadership across multiple departments implements the Museums Institutional Plan and ensures efficient mission-aligned operations.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Operational Leadership & Administration
Percent Effort: 30%
Assists with the overall operational oversight of the Museum.
Leads implementation and monitoring of goals within the Institutional Plan.
Serves as administrative liaison to TAMU-CC for finance HR and university policy compliance.
Oversees general office operations facility workflows and Museum Store operations.
Implements institutional policies procedures and compliance requirements.

Functional Area 2: Financial Oversight & Reporting
Percent Effort: 30%
Oversees all financial records including monitoring tracking and approving departmental budget activity.
Reviews and prepares monthly financial reports for the Director and Board of Trustees.
Coordinates materials for annual audits and supports government grant reporting.
Oversees invoices taxes insurance requirements and donor financial documentation.
Provides financial schedules reports and analysis for the Finance & Endowment Committee.
Ensures accurate and timely administrative and financial documentation and compliance.

Functional Area 3: Staff Supervision Events and Governance Support
Percent Effort: 40%
Supervises Facilities Assistants Accountant Administrative Associate Museum Store Manager and Event Specialist.
Oversees performance evaluations and maintains personnel records in accordance with TAMU-CC regulations.
Coordinates Board of Trustees meetings prepares agendas distributes materials and tracks follow-up actions.
Serves as staff liaison to assigned Board committees.
Supervises fundraisers exhibition openings and Museum special events.
Assists the Director as needed and oversees full Museum operations in the Directors absence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree
Six (6) years of related experience in a visual arts gallery art museum or nonprofit environment.
Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement:
Masters degree and four (4) years related experience
Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications and accounting software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Ability to manage multiple operational and administrative functions.
Ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a museum setting.
Supervisory experience across multiple operational roles.
Experience in nonprofit or museum financial reporting.
Demonstrated leadership in strategic or institutional planning.
Experience planning coordinating or supervising events fundraisers receptions or public programs.
Strong organizational communication and project management skills.
SALARY: Up to $5960 Approx. Monthly ($71520 Approximately annual)
